Awareness
How much of our feelings can we control?
Some say all, little, and none! Self-awareness takes work and you have to be willing to work! It won’t happen overnight! I’ve been working on self awareness for 4 years!!
The day I realized, I lacked self-awareness was something someone said to me! Those 6 words uttered to me characterized my whole day! I was mean to everyone, refused to talked and had an attitude! I made it home and a sense of “Girl check yourself came over me!” I was mad at the world and displaced it throughout the day!
I started to think, Why is this controlling me? Why did I not give back what was giving to me to that person? Why take it out on everyone else? That’s the day I realized I let events, people, and even the weather dictate me!
It took some honest self-reflection (who likes that?) to get myself all the way together! I had to write down what upsets me. Why does it upset you? Does it upset me when it comes from a particular person or anyone? That was just the beginning. However, I’m at the point now where I’m aware! I either speak on it or let it go!
No! Self-Awareness is not a, “Ok, I’m aware! I don’t need to work on this anymore!” It’s ongoing, as we grow as people and encounter various obstacles we will be tested! It’s up to us to control our feelings, motives and so on! Remain conscious! I don’t want to be perfect, I want to be authentically me!
